Stepping into seven league boots
Overview of Bosnia
Ragusa would normally be the first thought for expansions, but start guaranteed by the 奥斯曼 Empire. It can help to have a claim on them, and in the event the Ottomans get into a very taxing war, they may not honour their guarantee. Serbia would be a logical second though for expansion. Assuming a threatened posture towards the Ottomans should help garner an alliance with their rivals. Such alliances will serve well to prevent Ottoman aggression. Most often, 波兰, 匈牙利 or 奥地利 will have rivalled the Ottomans and would be suitable alliance partners. Do keep in mind that all of these are great powers, and sometimes they will be on a collision course, and Bosnia will have to play a balancing game of choosing between allies. It is worth considering that taking Dalmatia from Venice would allow, Emperor willing, to join the HRE. This would protect the player from both the Ottomans as well as a potentially belligerent Hungary. If Austria starts rivalled to Venice, it is possible to call them into a war against Venice, promising land. Having joined the HRE it is much less challenging to expand therein, and middle and upper 意大利 become much more viable targets.
If Austria is weakened, build relations with Poland and Lithuania, and if they are not rivalling 波希米亚, then build relations with them as well. Once Bosnia chooses an ally, enter their wars and support them. It is extremely important to raise the trust between Bosnia and the ally, since that will cause them to support Bosnia in wars regardless of their relations to.
The third way
Rather than pushing into the HRE or antagonizing the Balkans, the player can instead conquer middle or lower Italy. They have rich provinces and high manpower, and are excellent for trade. This will cause a lot of aggressive expansion in the surrounding area, so going slowly or taking a break and conquering some Balkan land may be ideal.
The HRE Game
Due to Bosnian national ideas and position, contending for Emperor by the Mid game is possible. Assuming that Emperorship is achieved it might be better to not fully unify the empire, but instead, pass all the reforms except the final one, leading to a massive influx of troops and gold trough vassals.
The Venice trade node is much more valuable than the Ragusa trade node, expanding there can be a significant source of trade income. Watch the political landscape. If the Ottomans have just lost most of their manpower in a war against the 马穆鲁克 or 黑羊, it's could well be an excellent time to strike at them.
A useful navy is not possible unless the player has a naval forcelimit close to the Ottomans. Although the Ottomans usually field a large galley based navy, they often do not upgrade all of them to the most recent type. So it can be possible to beat their navy with a somewhat smaller one, as long it is more up to date.
Choice of ideas
- Offensive, defensive, quality and quantity help field a more powerful army.
- Economy will help Bosnia battle inflation if Kosovo is taken from Serbia, as well as helping with autonomy reduction.
- Influence and diplomatic will help any bid to become the emperor of the HRE.
